The Hippodrome, Eyemouth

The Hippodrome is a really nice modern venue which was packed last year, and equally as packed this year too! As this particular venue does not have a piano, us string players had to take it up a notch with the repertoire, however it was really well received by the audience! It’s been great to play here as we’ve had a wide variety of people at our concert, including students from local schools joining us!

Had to prepare two Schubert songs arranged by Mertz, followed by my arrangement of Debussy’s ‘La plus que lente’ with Nicole, and the 1st movement of Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata, an arrangement done by Jonathan Leathwood. Frankie and Nicole had their own solo and duo moments too, finishing off the concert with the iconic Handel/Halvorsen Passacaglia.

After the concert, we had a wonderful fish and chips lunch, followed by lovely cakes prepared by the folks at the Hippodrome. A huge thanks to them for hosting us! Will certainly miss this place, and I hope to be back! Next stop, New Lanark!
