Had the pleasure of working again with Simone Fontanelli, composer/conductor & faculty from the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg!
He returned to the Menuhin School on the 27th and 28th of February, and he gave a string of wonderful masterclasses, as well as a fantastic lecture about gestures in Italian music, using examples of art, including the iconic image of “The Creation of Adam” by Michelangelo, in order to demonstrate and personify the articulations of these gestures. This was followed by examples of various gestures in music by composers like Scarlatti and Vivaldi.
I had a wonderful experience working with Simone, having had the opportunity to work on the Britten Nocturnal, as well as showing him some of my guitar arrangements, and he gave me some great advice.
It was great to see him again, and I look forward to out next encounter!
